Joseph Stalin and Totalitarianism

Totalitarianism means a government that takes total control. Stalin used totalitarianism to control all Soviet Union and control people's life.

"Five Years Plans" consisted in something almost impossible to do because he wanted to industrialized Russia in five year and the industrialization of a country takes a lot of money and time.

"the Great Purges" means that if there's someone that oppose him or don't follow his ruler he will kill that person.

Film Lesson: Doctor Zhivago

The film Dr. Zhivago show how the Russian nation revolucionated and become a communism country. Some of the reason because the revolution happen were because workes were not treated fairly and the dodn't want no more war. In the film after Russian become a communism country People have to share everything such as houses. In a part of a film ,after Dr. Zhivago came back to Moscow he went to his house and it was all full of people, people that he didn't even know. This part of the film shows an example of communism.

Cause of WWI

Some of the main causes of the were:

Nationalism: Ideas such as only the strong survive was one that influenced nations to dominated other countries in war.

Military: Many countries were competing for military power. Countries such as French, Russia and Germany wanted to have the best military power in the world. This controversy led the WWI or "The Great War"

Assassination of Franz Ferdinand: After Franz Ferdinand die and Germany felt betray so the started attacking.

Collapse of the alliance system: After alliances were formed, the nation felt like their own alliance is going to betray them.

The Opium War

China believe that they were a independent country so they didn't want to deal with other countries. Britain had something that Chinese people wouldn't resist that is call "opium," Chinese people used to use it as drugs. Britain wanted to deal with China because they wanted China's tea. After a few time Chinese people started to become addicted to opium. China's government started to get angry because opium was destroying their people and the whole country. In order to stop this they didn't want to deal with
Britain anymore, but Britain didn't want to stop dealing with China, that's why started "the opium war." China refuse to deal with Britain and China try to block Britain's ships wanted to get in and force China to keep importing. Because of their technology and their better ships and weapons Britain people defeat Chinese people to easily.

The White Man's Burned

For me "The White Man's Burden" means when people believe that they are more civilized and because of that they think that they can help other cultures to modernized and civilized them. One Great example is what is happening Between the U.S. and Irak. The U.S. is "trying" to help Irak, but they are really not doing nothing. I think that part of this of this poem is showing racism. I think that we still living "White Man's Burden" one hundred years later because as I said the U.S. want to change other country's government but they cannot do nothing.

The scramble for Afric

Scramble for Africa means a time when Africa's land was take over by Europeans.After a lot of explorations on Africa, Europe started to take over the land. Europe started to take more and more land, this was called "Scramble for Africa". French was the main nation involved in the Scramble for Africa. Europeans were looking for African's sources because they wanted to power up their industries or factories. They were able to conquer Africa because of their technology and because of the large number of armies and powerful weapons. As more land was conquer more African were slaves their villages were destroy and some people that wanted to protect their family end up death.

Europe wanted African sources because they wanted to power up their industries and factories. In order to do that they started to explored Africa. Some explorers such as John speak and Richard Burton started to explore Africa, but they were attacked by African natives. He tried again after few year, but this time they were carrying a lot of supplies and food too. As they were exploring people started to get sick of "molonia", however they had the cure for molonia and also people started to get thirsty because of the lack of water. Finally, they found the third biggest lake on the world and they called as a British queen (Lake Victoria). Europeans had advantages because they had better technology such as better weapons and better ships. Because of the better technology Europeans were able to conquer Europe so easily.
